Why join Pi Kappa Phi?

The difference between Pi Kappa Phi and other fraternities is summed up in Pi Kappa Phi's mission statement:

"Gamma Xi's mission is to maintain a gentleman's fraternity where brotherhood is of the utmost. We strive to maintain excellent academic standards and we shall never haze."

The Brothers of Pi Kappa Phi take this mission very seriously.
What does it mean?

"A gentleman's fraternity"

The character and integrity of our Brothers and associate members should be above reproach at all times. Our members must treat everyone with respect. A "gentleman" not only behaves as such toward women, he acts with class toward everyone he meets. Pi Kapps will not allow themselves to perpetuate the "party animal" stereotype of many fraternities.

"Where brotherhood is of the utmost"

Brotherhood is the foundation of fraternity. Long before fraternities even had houses, college men came together to experience a bond that cannot be fully explained. Pi Kappa Phi emphasizes brotherhood above all else, as this is what forms the bonds that last beyond college.

"We strive to maintain excellent academic standards"

Although fraternity occupies a large part of our Brother's lives, we are first and foremost here to learn. Pi Kappa Phi constantly strives to excel and remain above all other fraternities on campus. We will never force a Brother to compromise his academic obligations for the sake of fraternity.

So, what about hazing?

Gamma Xi chapter was chartered in 1969 by a group of men disenchanted with typical fraternity initiation and values. We take our commitment to no-hazing very seriously. it is reflected in the fact that our Brothers share equal house work and all other duties with our associate members. Associate members participate in almost all house activities. We will never ask an associate member to do anything that a Brother will not gladly do himself at the same time.
